Distribution Pipe Measurement: Making Informed Decision on Pipe Replacement Plans

The City of Edina developed a protocol based on acoustic measurement technology to translate remaining pipe wall thickness measurements into pipe replacement plans. Edina’s experience is presented as a case study including the return on investments in pipe condition assessment, the proportion of allocated pipe replacement funds that could be redirected, how the city integrated condition data into its condition assessment process, lessons learned, and next steps.
