Wird Las Vegas das Silicon Valley des Wassers?
Article appeared in POLITICO MAGAZINE -
This is a great article that describes Las Vegas' ambitions to become a hub for water technology. The EchoShore®-TX pipeline monitoring platform described in the article plays a key role in attracting and implementing intelligent water technology.
It's hidden in a sandy shrubbery, an octagonal fiberglass box on America's most colorful avenue. Inside is a fist-sized hydrophone, one of 13 acoustic devices that continuously listens for the smallest leaks along a mile-long pipeline that distributes 28,000 m3 of water to hotels and casinos along the Las Vegas Strip every day.
It's a sophisticated piece of water technology that's just as remarkable as the 36-story glass pyramid and the replica of the Great Sphinx of Giza that towers across the street. And it is no coincidence that the first public utility in the country to use this technology is based in Las Vegas.
