ME Simpson Co. Licenses Echologics Leak Detection and Condition Assessment Services to U.S. Water Utilities .

ME Simpson Co. was founded in Indiana in 1979 to evaluate water distribution systems and conduct meter tests. Including headquarters in Valparaiso, Indiana, the company now has eight regional offices in the United States and offers a wide range of programs and services for water distribution and sanitation.

After years of searching for leaks in water pipes using a variety of eavesdropping devices and leakage noise correlators, ME Simpson Co. last year purchased two acoustic correlators from Echologics' LeakFinder-ST ™ and their field staff quickly switched to acoustic technology. The company's field technicians found that the advanced capabilities of LeakFinder-ST, such as the ability to locate leaks in the low frequency range and signal filtering, made it one of the best tools for locating leaks in a variety of main water pipe materials and diameters.

Subsequent discussions between ME Simpson Co. and Echologics about leak detection in large-diameter transmission networks and assessing the condition of pipes using Echologics' ePULSE® condition assessment technology resulted in a license agreement signed earlier this year. Under the terms of the agreement, ME Simpson Co.'s experienced field service staff will collect data for leak detection and pipe condition assessments , and then transmit the data to Echologics engineers for analysis. ME Simpson Co. will provide these services to more than 1,000 existing customers and other small and medium-sized utility companies.
